We are now in the final stretch to complete the week! I’m in Boston until Sunday and am on the lookout for some delicious local favorites and foodie hot spots. Any suggestions? I’m always up for an exploration of a new city or a favorite city like Boston. Until I return, please enjoy these delicious cookies!
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and line your baking sheet with parchment paper. I’m not a huge believer in the power of the paper. In the bowl of your KitchenAid mixer, whip together the butter, Crisco, sugars and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add in the egg and continue to mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt and baking soda and then slowly add the mixture to the wet ingredients while beating on medium speed. Remove the bowl from the stand and stir the candies and chocolate chunks in by hand.
Drop the dough onto the baking sheets by rounded tablespoonfuls and bake for 10-12 minutes. I like to remove my cookies from the oven when they are just starting to brown at the edge to keep them soft and chewy. Place them on a cooling rack and allow to cool before placing them in an airtight container…or eating all of them in one sitting.
